Chemotherapy; Things to watch out for and misunderstandings

Chemotherapy involves the administration of drugs into the bloodstream. The most effective form of chemotherapy is the injection of a drug into the nerves of the hand. Chemotherapy involves the administration of drugs, such as drips and pills, as glucose enters the body. Chemotherapy involves the administration of drugs that are used in combination with other drugs. Chemotherapy is effective in preventing the spread of cancer. The goal of chemotherapy is to prevent the overgrowth and spread of cancer cells. Chemotherapy involves the administration of drugs that will reduce the risk of stroke. Chemo is done at regular intervals. In the meantime, you may not need to stay in the hospital. After each course, if the doctor allows, you can go home.

Side effects
In chemotherapy, powerful drugs pass through all parts of the body and can have side effects of their own. There are two major types of side effects of chemotherapy.

  1. Acute

These are the side effects that occur immediately after and after chemotherapy. These include hair loss, vomiting, oral infections, and immunosuppression. Medications to reduce all of these are now available.

  1. Delays ‌‌

Immunity decreases during chemotherapy. So the chances of catching other ailments are high.

Misconceptions
There are many misconceptions about chemotherapy. For example hair loss. Society thinks that hair will be lost permanently. Needless to say, this can be a psychological problem for women. Some say no to chemotherapy for fear of hair loss. The goal of chemotherapy is to prevent the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells. The fastest-growing cells in the body are the hair cells. When undergoing chemotherapy, the growth of these cells is inhibited. However, after chemotherapy, the hair will regenerate as before.

Things to look out for in chemotherapy
There is no prescriptive drug that will stop the flow of emotions, though their effects can be curtailed. Choose a soft comb to comb your hair and a mild shampoo to wash your hair. Some chemotherapy drugs can impair the function of the mucous membranes. The number of leukocytes decreases. Within a week or two, the situation returns to normal. If the number drops below 2000, and the fever exceeds 101 Fahrenheit, seek professional help.

Precautions to be taken to avoid infection in those undergoing chemotherapy:
Wash your hands and keep them clean at all times.
Keep the genitals clean.
Keep the skin free from scratches or bruises.
Do not travel as much as possible.
If for any reason the wound is cleansed, apply disinfectant ointment.
Tell your doctor if you notice redness or pain in the injured area.
Hygiene of the mouth and teeth is very important.
Avoid food immediately before treatment to avoid nausea and vomiting. It is best to drink an hour before and after.
Wear loose clothing, listen to favorite songs, and focus on things that are pleasing to the mind.
Sexual abnormalities may occur due to mental illness during treatment. But there is no problem for the patient or the partner.
Appropriate contraceptive measures should be taken as pregnancy does not bring relief to the patient or partner during treatment.
The important thing is not to listen to the opinions and suggestions of others. Only follow the advice of the medical team as side effects can be seen in many different ways. Other medications should be taken in consultation with your doctor while taking chemotherapy.

Radiation
If uncontrolled radiation causes cancer, cancer can be treated with controlled radiation. It is one of the most important cancer treatment methods today. There are two types of radiation. External radiation therapy is the mechanical application of radiation from outside the body. Internal radiation therapy involves the placement of a radioactive substance inside or near the cancer site. The goal of radiation therapy is to destroy overgrown cancer cells, shrink tumors, and prevent a recurrence. Radiation therapy also has side effects. However, radioactive drugs are available to minimize side effects.
