The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the plight of guest workers in the wake of the announcement of lockdowns in various states of the country. The Supreme Court has directed that assistance should be provided to guest workers who are facing difficulties in finding employment in the context of the continuing outbreak of covid disease.

Foodgrains should be distributed to all guest workers staying in Delhi and transport facilities should be ensured for those returning to the villages. The apex court also directed that community kitchens be set up in states including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
