The Union Sports Ministry has asked Britain to allow Sania Mirza to accompany her son to participate in tournaments.

The Union Sports Ministry has asked Britain to allow tennis star Sania Mirza to take her two-year-old son with her when she travels to the UK to participate in various tournaments. The ministry’s intervention was at Sania’s request.
Sania is going to the UK to participate in four tournaments, including Wimbledon and Birmingham. Sania will play in the Nottingham Open on June 6, the Birmingham Open on June 14, and the Eastbourne Open on June 20. This will be followed by Wimbledon on June 28.
Training in the run-up to the Tokyo Olympics is also taking place in the UK. It will take about a month to stay in the UK.
Sania’s son and babysitter did not get visas as Britain imposed strict restrictions on travel from India following covid.
Sania had informed the ministry that she could not go without her son as she had to stay away from home for a month for the match.
